Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new ringtone that integrates a classical composition into the latest Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 devices. This initiative features Frédéric Chopin’s ‘Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op. 9, No. 2,’ performed by esteemed pianist Yekwon Sunwoo.
A Distinguished Performance
Yekwon Sunwoo, recognized as the first Korean pianist to secure victory at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2017, offers a contemporary rendition of Chopin’s piece. The nocturne, composed over 190 years ago, is interpreted afresh for a global audience through Samsung’s latest devices.
Strategic Selection for One UI 9
The inclusion of Chopin’s piece in One UI 9 is strategic, leveraging the classical work’s Op. 9 to align with the software version. Widely appreciated for its serene and expressive qualities, the nocturne is positioned as an ideal sound for alarms and ringtones, enhancing user interactions with Galaxy devices.
Recording and Production Insights
The recording session was conducted at Samsung Galaxy Sound Studios, based at the Samsung Seoul R&D Campus. The session was managed by Byeong Joon Hwang and Young Jae Jang of Sound Mirror Korea, ensuring the performance’s fidelity and nuance were meticulously captured. Piano technician Hyungu Kang was instrumental in refining the instrument’s tonal output.
‘The studio’s acoustics provided a perfect backdrop for the nocturne,’ Sunwoo remarked. ‘Imparting classical music’s comfort and timelessness to Galaxy’s global user base is significant.’
