Samsung’s Design Miami Seoul 2026: A Data-Driven Exploration of Art and Technology Integration

From September 1 to 6, 2026, Samsung Electronics showcased an exhibition titled “Design is an Act of Love” at Design Miami Seoul, held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. This exhibition served as a platform to explore the intersection of technology, art, and human creativity, highlighting a novel approach to Samsung’s human-centered design philosophy.

Integration of Human Creativity and AI

The exhibition featured 14 Korean artists who drew inspiration from Samsung products to create works that interpret the theme of love uniquely. A significant aspect of this exhibition was the incorporation of artificial intelligence, enhancing the creative process rather than replacing human creativity. This was encapsulated in the formula AI × (EI + HI) — Artificial Intelligence amplified by Emotional Intelligence and Human Imagination.

The OLED TV S95H served as the medium for displaying these artworks, with each screen surrounded by a custom frame that varied in materials and design, thus adding a layer of personalization and distinctiveness to the artwork.

Artworks Reflecting Technological Inspiration

  • Aihyung Jo’s “EVERYTHING, SO FAR…”: Inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold8, this piece utilized metaphor and humor to explore human expression facilitated by technology.
  • “The Shape of Sound” by Everyday Practice: Drawing inspiration from Music Studio 5, this work visualized sound as a shared experience, emphasizing the connective power of audio.
  • “Gitdeun” by kkamangdol: This artwork imagined the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub as a reflection of familial tastes and memories.
  • “The Aural Sensation” by Sukeee: Representing the sensory experience of Galaxy Buds4 Pro, this piece integrated generative AI tools from concept to execution.

Customization and Personalization in Design

The exhibition highlighted customization through the distinct frames around each artwork, reflecting a shift from neutral and minimal technology designs to more personalized and expressive aesthetics. This approach was demonstrated in pieces like Guimi Yoo’s “Spring Carries Love” and Kiljong Arcade’s “Picnic of May,” which each used unique frame designs to complement their themes.

Byungrok Chae’s “Axis of Time, Terrain of Memory” further exemplified this, using Galaxy Watch data to create a narrative around the accumulation of daily life experiences, integrated into the frame design for cohesive visual storytelling.

Samsung’s Human-Centered Design Vision

Samsung hosted a seminar titled “The Language of Creativity,” where Mauro Porcini, the President and Chief Design Officer of the Device eXperience Division, elaborated on the company’s commitment to human-centered design. Porcini emphasized the role of technology in adding warmth and value to human lives and highlighted AI’s potential to enhance human empathy and creativity.

In summary, the exhibition at Design Miami Seoul 2026 emphasized Samsung’s vision of using technology to create more diverse and human-centric design possibilities, as the company continues to innovate in the AI era.
